This restriction does not apply to in-place database upgrades, to performing an XML restore when initializing a brand new installation of Confluence, or to those users using Confluence versions earlier than 5.2, or to those using Confluence versions greater or equal to 5.3. This restriction is due to a bug in Confluence 5.2.x ( CONF-30085) that prevents a critical Lockpoint upgrade task from running properly. IMPORTANT: if upgrading to Confluence 5.2.x by accessing Toolgear » Confluence Admin » Backup & Restore and then loading an XML backup, you must disable and reenable Lockpoint immediately after performing the restore.
